No doubt the majority of those ilonvved in the colonizing of this continent, and the founding of this country were Christian. Anyone that disputes the overwhelming evidence (clear historical facts) is no better than a holocaust denier. Now whether you appreciate the insertion of various historical facts into a Bible is another matter. Some of these facts are not related to the founding, are of dubious Christian purpose or intent (such as a quote from Edward R. Murrow) and have nothing to do with American patriotism, such as the inclusion of a papal opine from John Paul. I would have preferred Biblical quotes from the founding fathers as an addendum, with a page reference to a related Bible passage. Barack Obama's inclusion seemed more to be pandering to political correctness. History may have been made as the first African American President was elected, but how that might be lauded for a continuation or special achievement for traditional historical Christian American values is premature at best, and highly doubtful in the long run. Also, the inclusion of the beginnings of the feminist movement and women's suffrage is highly suspect. The role of the feminist movement in the continuation of traditional American Christian values appears to be quite the reverse. Are there less murders, rape, war, and crimes in general since women were given the right to vote? Is there less divorce? Has there proven to be more integrity in government? Has society seemed to have improved overall? From a traditional Christian perspective the obvious answers to these questions is no. The traditional family unit is more under attack than ever before. So, I have problems with this book, not because historical American patriotism has been under girded by a Christian biblical belief system as some have tried to argue against, but because of the facts included that don't necessarily coincide, and that they are dispersed throughout a Bible, which born again Christians such as myself consider the inspired Word of God!
